Eritrea was part of the Ethopian Kingdom until the 7th century, it subsequently fell under Turkish, Italian and British rule, before reverting to Ethiopian rule in 1962. The red, green, and blue of the Eritrean Flag are the colours of the Eritrean Peoples' Liberation Army that waged a lengthy campaign for independance from Ethiopia.
